RACH and also continuing to train for Open Obedience & Agility.
______________
Aslan will be collected in the near future to save for my next female.
I would also consider offering him at stud to a compatible bitch in
exchange for a pick female puppy. Contact me for more information.
Dark Blue boy
I had a seriously difficult time choosing which Novel pup to keep. Silver boy and Purple girl were my favorites, literally from birth! Finally, I decided to keep Purple girl. Dark Blue boy and Silver boy were still looking for homes, and I started taking "Blue" to puppy class to further prepare him for his new home. Each week he showed me what a fabulous obedience prospect he was, and I had to fight the urge to keep him for my own. On the last week of class, I lost the battle, and decided that he would be mine, and that night he became "Aslan."
Aslan was a joy to train, and he received many compliments on his beautiful heeling. In January 2013, he was entered in his first Rally Novice trial and picked up his first leg. It was a bittersweet day, as it was his mother's last Rally trial when she finished her Rally Excellent title, and I retired her from Rally. (Don't feel sad, though, as she went on to do Agility -- which she loved!) Aslan also qualified in his next to trials to finish his Rally Novice title.
For a variety of reasons, training and trialing were put on hold for a while, and Aslan did not compete again until the spring of 2017, when we began working on Novice Obedience and Preferred Novice Obedience. That year, he finished six titles: CD, PCD, BN, RA, RE, and RAE!
In 2018, Aslan added his Novice Agility titles: NA and NAJ.
Also in 2018, we competed in the RAE class at AKC's Rally National Championship (RNC). I was soooo nervous, and my goal was to qualify in all four of our classes and not finish last. There were 149 dogs entered in the RAE class; I'm not sure how many actually competed, but 132 qualified. Aslan finished 56th with 373 out of 400 possible points. (Aslan's son, Dakota, finished in 62nd place with a 370, only 3 points behind his daddy. I am so very proud of this team I could simply burst!)
In early 2019, we tried conformation showing, but a "bum ear" as the result of an ear hematoma made it an uphill battle that I wasn't willing to wage, so we turned back to companion events.
I had planned to start seriously training Aslan for Rally Master beginning in the fall of 2019; however, in July, I learned that the RNC was coming back to Ohio, and the eligibility period ended in November. So after some speedy training, we entered the Rally ring again in August. Before the November deadline, Aslan had earned his Rally Master title in 10 straight attempts, was halfway to the necessary Triple Qs for his Rally Champion title (RACH), and had earned the scores necessary to be eligible for the Championship Class at the RNC. Unfortunately, due to the covid-19 pandemic, the 2020 RNC was postponed and moved to Orlando, FL, and we had to withdraw our entry.
While we journey closer to Aslan's RACH, training continues for Open Obedience (we're almmoooost there) and for Agility. As of August 4, 2020, he needs 5 more Triple Qs and quite a few Master points. Once the TQs have been obtained, we can concentrate more on the Obedience and Agility goals and hopefully be ready to compete by early next year.

Note: The Novel litter pups' registered names are all the names of novels. Aslan is the lion in C.S. Lewis' "Chronicles of Narnia." (Interestingly, I later named my other Novel male "Gryffindor" -- I did not realize at the time that a lion is the Gryffindor mascot :-)
