General Information
Justice was bred to P.D., owned by Fran Friedman of River!Run, on May 6, 8, and 10. Because I did not do progesterone testing prior to the breeding, it is hard to determine a firm due date. Gestation is typically between 59-63/65 days, (depending on the source of reference). Given that range, puppies could arrive between July 4 and July 12/14. Justice's birthday is July 13... :-)
P.D. is everything I hoped for--and more! He is gorgeous, and sweet & loving, and his temperament is exactly what I was looking for! P.D. and Justice complement each other beautifully. Fran and I are both very excited about this breeding, as we expect the resulting puppies to be healthy, lovely, biddable puppies with good work ethic, like their parents.
Sire
The sire of the litter, P.D., earned 4 majors, winning the Wolverine Regional to finish his CH…all owner handled. He has been among the final cuts in Best of Breed competition at 3 ABTC nationals. P.D. is the “man for all seasons” – his owner’s right hand, always willing to try everything with an up and willing attitude. He is a serious dog – protecting his household from 2 separate break-in attempts – yet gentle enough to babysit litters of puppies. Finishing his CD and CDX in 3 straight shows each…taking 5 shows to finish his UD – an enviable record! Whether you want P.D. to be a show dog or an assistance dog, he is ready for the challenge – a good lad with common sense. His mother is a CH OTCH TD C/O/P-BAR bitch of English parentage, while his dad was a stunningly beautiful CH C-BAR import from France.
Dam
The dam of the litter, Justice, is from the Justice litter (George x Jo), co-bred by myself and Kelley Hoffman of BasqueLaine Belgians. Justice is a wonderful dog, easy to live with and fun to train. I am very proud of the fact that she completed the requirements for her CD in 3 attempts, her RN in 4 (would have been 3 if *I* hadn't messed up and missed a sign ;-) and her RA in 3. We did not start any serious obedience training until the beginning of August, and she earned her first CD leg in late September. After this litter, we will work on her RE and begin training for her CDX.

Theme / Registered Names
February 2011 — The litter theme is subject to change. However, I am currently thinking of naming my keeper puppy "Almondine" from The Story of Edgar Sawtelle (if I keep a female), or "Aslan" from The Chronicles of Narnia (if I keep a male). In that case ... “Novel” will be the litter theme.
Some points to remember: (1) The registered name will start with "Genesis"; (2) According to AKC, names are limited to 30 total characters, though they have implemented a new program of allowing longer names—for an extra fee, of course; (3) The registered name must be the name of a novel, but the call name can, of course, be whatever you choose. The registered and call names can fit together or have nothing to do with one another...that is entirely up to you.
If you are interested in a puppy...
If you are interested in a Novel litter puppy or a future Genesis Belgian Shepherd puppy, please review the prospective puppy buyer information page, and then complete a prospective puppy buyer questionnaire, which will help me get a feel for what you’re looking for. My goal is to place the right puppy with the right home, so the more information I have, the better able I am to make the right placement decisions. If you get a puppy from me, I will be available to help you with anything—good or bad!!—for the lifetime of the dog.
Contracts
If this is your first purebred dog, you may be surprised by some of the contract specifications. For others, it will be a fairly standard contract. See Genesis' companion/performance contract or show/performance contract. Please do not hesitate to contact me concerning any of the contract details about which you may have questions.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
